Gratitude / Humility

The second of the niyamas (personal observances) from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, santosha is essentially the opposite of desire, of lack, of feeling that we need things to be different before we can be happy. Someone out there is praying for all the things you take for granted

“The more often we see the things around us - even the beautiful and wonderful things - the more they become invisible to us. Many of us believe our life is defined by a series of big events. Milestones such as birthdays, holidays, graduations and weddings are what we prepare for. What I have found in my life, as I look back at old pictures and videos, is that it was in fact the small things that really ended up becoming the big moments in my life. Simple memories, woven together became the fabric of my life.

Son, be sure to soak in these moments, they go by so fast. Live your brief slice of cosmic time to the fullest with no regrets. Thank you for all the great memories you have given me, they have touched my heart and have given my life tremendous value and meaning. I love you so much son…
